Free compost for Arbor Hills residents

Free compost or mulch for Ann Arbor residents, only, is available on Saturdays, April 6 through June 29, 2013, from 8 a.m. to noon, while supplies last. Residents drive to the scale house at 4150 Platt Road and provide proof of Ann Arbor city residency — a recent water bill and driver’s license. The scale house operator will then direct residents to the location of the free compost and mulch. Limit is 6 bushels (or 1 cubic yard) per household of compost, mulch, or any combination thereof per year.

Arbor Hills compost collection resumes April 3.

The weekly curbside collection of compostable material in Arbor Hills resumes Wednesday, April 3, 2013. The compost program accepts yard trimmings such as leaves, plants, garden debris, twigs, and branches up to 6 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length. Residents using optional compost carts may also place grass clippings, fruit and vegetable scraps, and uncoated paper plates, paper cups, and napkins inside the carts for municipal collection.

City Vactor Truck in the Neighborhood

You may have noticed a very large heavy duty City truck in our neighborhood during the past couple of weeks. This truck has industrial vacuuming equipment mounted on it and one of the uses is for maintenance of the sanitary sewer system. The City indicated this truck is in our neighborhood to perform preventive maintenance. The sanitary sewer system is owned and maintained by the City. A couple of residents have mentioned that when the truck was doing its work they had water splatter out of their toilets and some stuff come up from their floor drains.

January Board Meeting With Open Session

The Board of Directors will conduct their monthly meeting  January 16, 2013 at Clague Middle School in the media center-library. The session of the meeting open to all co-owners will begin at 8:15 PM.

Arbor Hills Dues Statements

The recently mailed dues statements contained payment coupons that had an error. The coupons indicated dues not paid by the 10th of the month would be assessed a late fee and that is incorrect. The annual dues assessment is payable in two installments and are due January 1 and July 1. If you do not pay your installments on these dates, they shall be considered past due and a delinquency notice will be mailed to you on the 10th of the respective month. First half dues that are delinquent can be paid by January 31 and not incur a late fee.

Arbor Hills Street Cleaning

RJR Services will be cleaning the neighborhood streets on Thursday morning, December 13. Streets must be clear of all vehicles to allow RJR to properly clean them. Please do not park your cars, trucks, or anything else in the streets while the cleaning takes place. Remember to bring in your trash and recycling carts before Thursday morning, otherwise they will be in the way of the street sweeper.
